A bleak poem by Robert Burns, mirroring his unhappy love-life in the changing of the seasons, has a beautiful modal melody in a lilting 5/4 time. The original version is for mixed choir, but a version for SSA was made in 2017 for Juice Vocal Ensemble and included on their Snow Queens album.
